Art Kits for Students and Request for Donations

CherryArts, Understudy, La Napoule Art Foundation, the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, and Food For Thought
March 26, 2020 - May 31, 2021

CherryArts, Understudy, La Napoule Art Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver are partnering with Food For Thought, an organization delivering thousands of meals to Denver Public School (DPS) students and their families, to distribute Art Kits to students in need throughout Denver. The organizations have distributed 1,000 Art Kits to date.

Food For Thought is providing meals to Denver Public School students and their families by delivering 7,000 PowerSacks (56,000 meals) to more than 24 DPS Grab and Go sites each week. Each PowerSack meal contains enough non-perishable food for a family of four for two days and is made available to anyone in need, not just DPS students. Food For Thought will distribute the Art Kits alongside their PowerSack meals.

The Art Kits include several art project ideas and materials, along with water bottles, t-shirts, bandanas and art supplies to foster creativity during this time away from school. Each kit contains a printout of, and online link to, At Home With Art, tutorial options to keep children engaged.

“CherryArts’ mission is to provide access to art experiences and support arts education in Colorado, and we believe in the importance and impact of art during challenging times,” said Tara Brickell, president & CEO of CherryArts. “We are grateful to have the opportunity to partner with Food for Thought, Understudy, La Napoule Art Foundation and the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver to provide children with tools to foster creativity during their time at home.”

We are seeking donations of new or gently used art supplies, traditional or non- traditional. Email education@cherryarts.org to donate supplies. The public can also make a monetary donation to support the Art Kits program by clicking here. To follow or engage with the program on social media, use the hashtag #togetherthroughart.

About La Napoule Art Foundation

La Napoule Art Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. It was incorporated in 1951 by American expatriate Marie Clews as a memorial to her late husband and sculptor Henry Clews. Museum The Château de La Napoule: located just outside Cannes, France, is recognized as a monument historique and for its jardins remarkables. Henry’s work, which blends a whimsical spirit with technical skill, is prominent throughout the museum. The Château also hosts rotating exhibitions featuring our prestigious resident alumni and other noted artists.
