About the Artists:
Thami NABIL:
I live in Paris, France,
I draw and make animated videos organically, developing drawings on different
media, prints, riso, silkscreen, digital, handmade.
In search of a personal aesthetic, I spit out my version of codes or samples and
mix them with old artistic movements or trends.
My sources range from popular culture, cartoons from the 30s to the 70s, to the
Middle Ages…
Hedi NABIL:
He is a graduate of the illustration section of ESA Saint-Luc in Brussels and of
Beaux-Arts in Paris.
In 2017, he undertook a trip to China, following the Silk Roads. He traveled from
Beijing to Dunhuang, stopping at the edge of the Gobi desert to discover the
Mogao caves.
The trip was a revelation. Since then, he has tried to transcribe the impressions
of this journey through his various artistic practices, whether in the themes
addressed or in the staging of his works.
He remembers “the purity of its light when the first days of Spring return, the red
of his country and the memory of his Belgian friends."
In 2022, a new collaboration with Mad Rey saw the light of day, with the video
Bientôt la Lumière, co-directed with Thami Nabil.
The same year also saw the release of the Red Hot Chili Peppers video Poster
Child, co-directed by Thami Nabil and Julien Calemard, with Hedi Nabil
contributing to the animation.
