SIMON LAZARUS 84
http://www.simonlazarus84.com/OWIMBOWE is a video mural created for the Daniels & Fisher Tower. The graphic tale recites, through an abstract narrative, a story of rise, conquest, flourishing, battle and fall. Using pixels as living pigments, the piece is constructed as a silent musical, aiming to infuse rhythm inside the painting. The sun will rise again (-:
About the Artist
Simon Lazarus 84 forged his palette in the Paris graffiti scene in the beginning of the century. Continuing his painting practice, he is now exploring new forms through technical experimentation : video-mapping, maker culture tools, electronics and bio-hacking. His visual grammar, which gravitates between symbolism and abstraction, is embodied in processes that place virtual imagery and physical materiality in tension, creating interactive installations, audio-visual performances and immersive video murals.
He is also involved into collective practices about adventures (ROAD DOGS) storytelling (MANITOU), or off-shore pathfinders (K.U.K).
His work has been presented in contemporary art spaces (Palais de Tokyo, Kommet, Lieu Unique, Galerie A+E, Nuit Blanche Grand Paris), digital art festivals (Scopitone, Maintenant, Astropolis, Constellation de Metz, UHfest Budapest, Quantum LosAngeles, Biennale Chroniques) and mapping events in France and abroad: Fête des lumières de Lyon, Sharjah Light Festival (United Arab Emirates), Shining Shanghai (China), MappMontreal (Canada), Denver Night Light (USA) and the Vidéo-mapping festival in Lille in 2023, where he was awarded the Grand Prize of the Jury.
