February 2020
STRIP TEASE is about the contradiction of clothing, and by extension personal style and identity, within the global monoculture fast fashion has helped create. It is a site specific response to the forced reimagining of retail spaces as digital capitalism reigns upon us all. The garments, seen in a twisted and convoluted yet beautiful and seductive states, mirror the conflict almost anyone who has dealt with addictive shopping tendencies has experienced. The abstracted textures are culled from actual fast fashion retailers. Curated by Brooke Tomiello of Lane Meyer Projects and Rose van Mierlo.
This piece is a collaboration with digital artist Rio Roye who also lives in Brooklyn
