Neptune

INCITE Colorado

USA 2018

INCITE Colorado is bringing planet Neptune to Understudy. Constructed using recycled materials, and inspired by silent movies, comics, and retro sci-fi, Neptune offers audiences a chance to step out of their daily routine and relax on another planet for a bit. The gallery will be filled with topographical features from the planet’s surface that can be explored while listening to audio excursions by Ultraviolet.

“Neptune” will premiere at Understudy on February 7, 2019, with a reception from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.

Open installation hours February 7 – February 25, Thursday through Monday, from 11:00am – 6:00pm. Understudy is free-to-visit.

Biography

INCITE Colorado is a collective of artists and craftsmen whose goal is to make art a part of the everyday. Founders Justin Hicks, Lindsay Senior, and Katie Webster work with local artists, designers, and businesses to make their big ideas come to life. They have designed and built stage productions for bands like Itchy-O and Lost Walks and for companies like The Stanley Hotel and the DCPA. INCITE also produces their own work, which tends to take shape as happenings, like crossing Delaware Street dressed as George Washington in a street-faring boat, or a site-specific dance piece inspired and performed on a staircase in downtown Denver, or a Museum of Repeating History located in a backyard shed in Elyria-Swansea. The group hopes to be unexpected, but inclusive, and to invite reciprocation from their audience, making artistic happenings an ordinary occurrence.

Understudy is located at the Colorado Convention Center / Theatre District light rail stop near 14th and Stout. Look for the B-Cycle station next to the light rail tracks or Shantell Martin’s art bench.
